The frame is what you notice first. An elongated oval amethyst runs up the finger in deep purple, and the yellow gold plating around it is worked into a scalloped plaque with granulated borders, tiny raised beads following every edge. Oval rhodolite garnets ring the center stone in raspberry red, and small round blue topaz drop into the corners of the outer scallops, cool blue against warm metal.
Three stone colors over a gold ground, just past nine carats altogether. The plaque spans a wide stretch of the finger and the shank narrows away sharply behind it.
