An oval amethyst in deep purple holds the center of this cocktail ring, and eight pear cut turquoise cabochons radiate around it in a rosette that fills the entire head. Outside them runs a scalloped openwork frame, pave set with diamonds that trace every curve of the outline and square off what would otherwise be a round cluster.
The three registers stack outward from the middle: purple at the core, opaque blue green around it, bright white at the edge. The gallery beneath is cut away into openwork, so light passes under the amethyst instead of stopping against solid metal, and the faceted crown throws purple back in broad flashes rather than pinpoints. It covers the finger from edge to edge at size 7 US.
