Marquise and pear cut tanzanites are massed into a pointed oval head that runs the length of the finger and rises toward the middle. The stones sit in tiers, points outward at the rim and packed flat through the center, so the outline reads as a spray rather than a disc and the whole top spreads well past the width of the shank.
Tanzanite gives blue one way and violet the other, and with thirty six stones facing slightly different directions the ring never shows a single flat color: some facets go blue while their neighbors go purple as the hand turns. Rhodium plated silver claws hold each stone individually and keep the metal bright between them.
