Twenty-one oval amethysts lie end to end along the wrist, each caught by four claws and joined to the next by a small openwork silver link, so the strand articulates freely rather than sitting rigid. The purple is not uniform: some stones are a deep grape, others a considerably paler lilac, and the alternation of tone runs the whole length of the bracelet rather than hiding in one section. It reads as a hand assembled line instead of a machine matched one.
Rhodium plated sterling silver between the settings keeps every one of those tones reading cool. At 7.25 inches the line closes with a box clasp and a folding safety catch, and just under eight carats of amethyst circle the wrist without a gap.
