Pear cut blue sapphires fill the wings of this butterfly, around ten of them at 1.58 carats total, each set individually in warm toned claws with the wing outline drawn around them in a pale line of tiny white zircon. Two metals doing two jobs: the gold plating holds the stones, the pale outline draws the shape. A slim marquise body runs down the center. At 26 by 24 millimeters the butterfly is close to square, which makes it read as a compact motif rather than a wide one.
