A cushion cut blue sapphire of 2.58 carats hangs from a short yellow gold bail, ringed by a close row of round diamonds that follows the cushion shape. The 0.20 carats of diamonds sit tight against the stone, so the halo works as a bright edge rather than as a second design element, and the drop stays compact at 19 by 11 millimeters.
Suspended on a yellow gold chain it falls just below the hollow of the throat, where the deep blue is legible against skin from across a room while the pendant itself stays small. The gold is the only warm color in the piece and it frames the sapphire without diluting it.
