This is a halo ring, and the halo is what makes it. A single row of small round diamonds traces the outline of an elongated cushion sapphire, then the pavé runs on down both sides of the slim yellow gold shank. Four gold claws grip the corners and hold the stone just clear of the finger.
The sapphire itself is lighter than the usual navy, an open blue that lets you see the internal structure move as the hand turns. Cut long rather than square, it fills the finger lengthwise, and the diamond outline exaggerates that proportion.
