The shank splits below the head into two pave diamond rails that run forward and stop at the corners of the sapphire, leaving an open slot on either side of the stone. It is a split shank layout and the negative space does as much work as the diamonds do, framing the stone with air on two sides.
The sapphire is an elongated cushion of 2.12 carats, set north to south in four yellow gold prongs so its long axis follows the finger. Diamonds total 0.26 carats across both rails. Ring size 7.
