Four wide gold prongs curl over the crown of this oval sapphire like petals, and they are as much of the design as the stone is. The blue is deep and close to royal, dark enough that the facets read as flashes on a solid field rather than as an open interior. Shoulders swell out from the head and carry pave diamonds in two graduated rows on each side, tapering back into a plain polished shank.
Yellow gold pulls the blue darker and more saturated than a white mount would leave it. The ring is heaviest right at the middle and thins quickly toward the back, which keeps a 2.34 carat center from reading blocky across the finger. Sized 7 US.
