The sapphire is cut as an elongated cushion, noticeably longer than it is wide, and that proportion sets the whole design. The diamond halo traces the same stretched outline, so the head sits north to south along the finger as a compact rectangle with softened corners. At 3.14 carats the stone is deep enough in color to look almost ink blue in shadow and open blue in direct light.
Only 0.26 carats of diamonds are used, a single close row rather than a wide frame, and the white gold shank runs slim and flat into it. The result is a narrow, upright ring that gives its width entirely to the sapphire.
