A large oval sapphire holds the middle of a halo of round diamonds, each one gripped in its own claw so the surround reads as a ring of separate bright points rather than a solid line. The halo is set in white metal while the shank stays plain 18K yellow gold, and the two tones meet cleanly at the shoulder.
The proportions are generous, over four carats in total with the oval taking nearly all of that, so the head fills the finger from edge to edge. Below the setting nothing competes: the band runs flat and unornamented to the base. Size 7 US.
