An oval blue sapphire of 3.82 carats sits low in four yellow gold claws, and instead of a halo the diamonds are gathered into a fan on each shoulder, small rounds massed in white metal so they climb from the band up to the stone. The two fans give the head a tapered, almost architectural profile from the side and leave the sapphire completely unframed from above.
The band is broad and squared where it meets those fans, then narrows around the finger. Warm yellow gold against a cold saturated blue is the whole idea of the ring, with 0.40 carats of diamonds acting as the seam between the two.
