The opal is a cabochon, oval and gently domed, and its pale body runs with green and rose that drift across the surface as the hand turns. Instead of a continuous halo, two crescents of small diamonds curve above and below the stone, so the outline swells at top and bottom and draws in at the waist.
Yellow gold prongs take the cabochon at either side and stay bare, putting warm metal in direct contact with the pale face of the stone. The shank is narrow, so almost everything visible across the finger is opal and the two diamond arcs. Sized at 7 US, it wears as a cocktail ring.
