Two staggered rows of small round rubies fill the face of each hoop, with beads of bright metal set between them in a checkerboard, so the red is broken up by little points of white rather than running as one unbroken band. The rows continue around onto the inner face, which means the pattern reads the same whichever way the hoop turns.
The red is bright and leans pink, a tone that stays lively at this stone size where a darker red would go flat. Twenty-five by five millimeters keeps the earring compact while leaving the face wide enough to carry two rows across.
