A round topaz of twelve and a half carats fills the head, its crown worked into a dense field of small facets so the blue breaks into patches instead of lying flat. Four wide gold claws cross the girdle on the diagonals and carry the stone well clear of the finger.
Small round diamonds run around it in white metal, interrupted at each claw, so the halo reads as four bright crescents rather than a closed circle. The shank divides into two arms on each side before it reaches the head, leaving an open gap of daylight beneath the halo.
