The 4.30 carats here are spread across a butterfly rather than gathered into one stone. Ten amethysts in oval, pear and round cuts fill the two wings, graduated so the broadest stones sit at the widest part of each wing, while a line of small round amethysts runs down the center to form the body. Every stone is claw set, and the purple stays even from wing tip to wing tip.
Bright sterling silver draws the outline as an openwork frame edged in fine beading, so the metal reads as line rather than mass and the color carries the shape. The ring sits wide across the finger at cocktail scale, with a plain rounded shank that keeps the weight settled between the knuckles. Sized 7 US.
