One cushion of amethyst to each earring, set on point in a plain bezel and hung from a shepherd hook so the stone swings free. The crown is checkerboard cut, a grid of small flat facets that breaks the purple into squares of light rather than long flashes.
Nearly twenty five carats across the pair puts real weight at the ear, and at 38 by 20 millimeters the outline is wide as well as long. Gold plating over the silver rims the purple in warm metal.
