The hearts here are silver and the amethyst is round. A small solid heart sits flat at the post, and from it hangs a second, larger heart drawn only as an open outline, with one round amethyst claw set inside so the stone floats in the middle of the empty frame. Cool violet against bright white metal, a single stone to each ear.
At 22 by 14 millimeters the outline is large enough to register as a heart from across a table while the stone itself stays restrained. Light passes through the open frame from behind, which keeps the purple lively rather than flat, and the color holds even from table to edge. The pair comes to 1.44 carats.
