These are inside out hoops: round amethysts follow the outer face and then again the inner face, shared prong set head to tail, so the purple shows whether the hoop is seen straight on or turned toward the neck. Dozens of small stones make up each circle, and the color shifts slightly along the run, paler at some points and deeper at others.
The sterling silver wire is slim and round in section, appearing mostly as the small claws that sit between stones, and a hinged catch closes at the top. At 45 by 3 millimeters the hoops draw a full circle at the ear while staying light.
