A large oval amethyst of 8.18 carats takes almost the whole head, and the halo around it alternates: a round golden citrine, then a round violet blue tanzanite, all the way around the oval. That alternation is the point of the ring, warm gold and cool blue trading places against a purple center, and it keeps the surround from reading as a plain frame.
The amethyst is cut with a high crown and shows lighter and darker zones as it turns. Citrine adds 0.76 carats and tanzanite 0.66, all set in white metal claws on a sterling silver mount that sits high and wide enough to be worn as a cocktail ring.
