The white topaz outweighs the amethyst here, 2.12 carats against 1.04, and the arrangement shows why. The oval amethyst at the centre is small and deeply coloured, and around it run two frames: an inner halo of round white topaz, then an outer ring of tapered baguettes flaring outward like the pleats of a ballerina skirt.
Those baguettes carry most of the carat weight and set the diameter of the ring, which is far wider than the centre stone alone would suggest. Prongs and shank are yellow gold plated while both frames are set in white metal, with the purple held at the middle of all of it. Ring size 8 US.
