The frame around this oval amethyst is built in two layers. Tapered baguette white topaz radiate outward from the stone in a ballerina skirt, each held at its widening outer end, and beyond their tips a second ring of small round topaz traces the scalloped edge the baguettes make.
That doubling is what gives the head its size. The amethyst is 3.78 carats but the ring reads far broader across the finger, and the long baguettes return light in strokes while the rounds return it in points, so the two rings behave differently as the hand moves. The shank runs wide and plain into the setting. Sized 7 US.
