There is far more here than a stone on a wire. Each earring carries an oval aquamarine set at the middle of a navette shaped openwork plaque, and the plaque itself is worked over with small round white topaz in pave, its borders finished in fine milgrain that picks up light along every edge. The pale watery blue of the aquamarine sits at the center of all that white metal and white stone, the only color in the piece.
The plaque hangs from a hinged leverback and swings flat rather than twisting. Across 34 by 11 millimeters the outline tapers to a point top and bottom, giving the pair a narrow vertical silhouette at the ear.
