Scale is the first thing here: 8 millimeters across each stone, 3.82 carats for the pair, enough to cover most of the lobe. The black diamonds are cut as round brilliants and held in four prong baskets, and against 14K yellow gold the black reads harder than it does in a white metal, the warm claws sitting at the girdle as four small gold points.
Up close the facet structure is plain, a network of dark planes with light picking out the junctions between them. From across a room the pair simply reads as two dark circles ringed in gold.
