Yellow gold against black is the whole idea. Two round brilliant black diamonds, 4.90 carats between them, sit in four bead claws of 14K yellow gold that grip at the girdle and leave the rest of each stone clear. The warm metal registers as four bright points at the compass positions while the black between them takes in light rather than returning it, so the effect is graphic instead of sparkling.
Each stone measures 8 millimeters across, wide enough that the pair fills the lobe from edge to edge. The faceting shows as a faint geometric pattern across the crown, picking up a line of light here and there without ever lifting the darkness of the stone as a whole.
