A braid worked in openwork across the top of a domed band, every strand of it pave set with small black diamonds in blackened metal, 0.52 carats in total. Because the weave is pierced rather than solid, the bright polished silver of the shank shows through the gaps beneath it, so the ring alternates dark twisted rope with flashes of light all the way round. Black stones in blackened settings give an almost matte, absorbent surface, and setting that against a polished silver base is the contrast the whole design turns on.
