The band carries as much of this design as the stone does. It widens from a plain back into broad shoulders cut with deep parallel ribs, two banks of them running up each side, and the ribbing breaks at a raised round table in the middle where short engraved rays radiate out from the setting like a sunburst.
At the center of that sunburst sits one round black diamond, bezel set flush with the metal, its facet edges reading as fine bright lines around a face that stays dark. Against 14K yellow gold plating the contrast is absolute, a single unlit point in a field of warm metal. Built on a size 8 with a low profile, it wears closer to a signet than to a raised solitaire.
