A rectangular tablet of black onyx is set flush inside a raised yellow frame, its surface polished flat so it reads as a block of solid black with a single soft highlight across it. Four round black diamonds are channel set in a vertical row down each side panel, eight in all, dark against the warm metal but catching light where the onyx does not.
The whole ring is built square: flat top, straight sides, broad shoulders stepping down to the shank in the signet manner. Total weight is 2.1 carats across the onyx and the eight diamonds together.
