Sapphire, topaz, sapphire, topaz, the whole way around with no break in the rhythm. Twenty-eight sapphires against twenty-seven topaz means the alternation begins and ends on a sapphire, so both ends meet the clasp the same way. Every stone is a round brilliant in a four claw head of matching size, which holds the line dead even in height and width from end to end.
The sapphires read as a dark navy that goes almost black where light misses the crown, and the colorless topaz beside them reads bright white, so the bracelet flashes in alternating dark and light instead of glittering all at one pitch. Rhodium plating lets the claws vanish into the topaz while outlining each sapphire. A concealed box clasp with a figure eight safety keeps the profile flat, and the piece measures 6 inches.
