The wings here are drawn as open outlines and then filled with individual pear and oval cut blue sapphires, each in its own claw setting with metal visible between them, which is a very different effect from a solid pave wing. The stones total 2.84 carats and the gaps let light through the piece. A slim marquise shaped body set with white zircon runs down the center. It is built as a necklace, with the butterfly fixed between two lengths of cable chain rather than hanging free from a bail.
