Each earring is an open circle built from polished gold beads that graduate in size, largest at the bottom of the loop and shrinking as they climb back toward the post. One round sapphire, dark blue and cut small, sits in a beaded bezel where the circle meets the ear, so the stone reads as the clasp of the ring rather than as a pendant hanging from it.
At 23 by 21 mm the circle sits flat against the lobe and faces forward, filling the space in front of the ear instead of dropping below it. The sapphire weight is 0.36 carats for the pair, and everything else is 10K yellow gold, which is what carries the piece at a distance.
