Two metal colors are at work in this pendant. The oval sapphire is held in yellow gold claws over a yellow rim, while the halo of round diamonds around it is bead set into white metal, so the bright ring stays cool and the warmth picks up again at the bail and the chain above it.
At 3.14 carats the sapphire is much the largest element and it reads almost inky against that diamond frame. Measuring 22 by 14 millimeters, the drop is compact enough to sit high on an open collar and still carry its color across a room.
