The head of this ring is a dense field of small round sapphires, dozens of them, packed across a wide scalloped panel that runs almost the full width of the finger. The outline curves in and out rather than sitting square, three swelling lobes across the top edge and matching curves below, so the pave reads as a cluster rather than a band.
Sterling silver frames the massing and the metal between the stones is darkened, which drops the background away and lets each small blue point stand out on its own. Total weight is spread across the whole field, so the effect on the hand is broad coverage and constant small movement of light instead of one bright center.
