Oval blue sapphires fill an elongated plaque in three staggered rows, each stone claw set and touching its neighbors, so the top of the ring becomes a solid rectangle of blue running east to west across the finger. The staggering is what keeps it from looking mechanical: the rows sit offset, and the sapphires vary slightly in tone from stone to stone.
The 2.58 carats is the total across the whole field, not a single weight, and the sapphires are opaque to translucent with a soft matte surface rather than a glassy one. Sterling silver frames the plaque with a plain scalloped edge and a flat shank.
