Set in white metal the marquise sapphire loses the warm frame a gold ring would lend it, and the blue turns colder and heavier, dark enough through the center that the color resolves only where the crown catches light. The stone lies point to point along the finger at 2.10 carats, caught by a V claw at each tip and a pair of claws at the widest part.
The setting is deliberately spare. Nothing rings the sapphire; the thirty six diamonds run instead as a single bead set row down each shoulder, 0.30 carats between them, fading out before the 10K white gold band turns plain and rounded through the back. Because the metal and the accent stones share one cool tone, the eye reads the ring as a continuous white line interrupted by a single dark stone. It comes at size 7 US.
