An oval blue sapphire sits in four rounded yellow gold claws with its long axis running across the finger. To either side a crescent of white metal curls in tight against the stone, each one bead set with diamonds, and the tapered shoulders carry a further row in matching white panels. Sixteen diamonds in all, arranged as flanking shoulders rather than a surrounding halo, which leaves the sapphire outline uninterrupted.
The two tone construction is what makes it work: yellow gold through the band and the claws, white metal wherever a diamond is set, so the small stones stay crisp and the blue reads blue instead of picking up warmth from the mount. In a size 7 the head sits low and the shoulders taper down into the band without a step.
