The frame is the interesting part. A small round blue sapphire with a smooth domed top sits inside an open cushion-shaped surround of tiny diamonds, so the outline of the halo is squared with rounded corners while the stone inside it stays circular. The two geometries do not line up, and the gap between them is left open rather than filled, which gives the head a lightness that a closed halo would lose.
Sapphire weight is 0.64 carats against 0.06 carats of diamond, the diamonds running around the frame and then a short distance down each shoulder before the shank goes plain. White gold throughout keeps everything cool, and the domed sapphire returns light as one soft highlight rather than as scattered flashes. Compact on the hand at size 7 US.
