The shoulder work is the surprise: a marquise-shaped panel of white metal let into each side, three tiny diamonds inside each, so the shoulders read as two bright navettes flanking the stone instead of a plain run of pave. Between them a round blue sapphire is held in four prongs and sits slightly proud of the band.
The 10K yellow gold shank tapers as it leaves the head, and the two-tone break keeps the shoulders visually separate from the rest of the ring. At 0.84 carats the sapphire is compact and deeply colored; the six accents come to 0.02 carats between them and work as punctuation. Size 7.
