A single round brilliant sapphire holds the center, lighter and clearer in tone than most, a bright cornflower blue that keeps its color from edge to edge. Four claws of 14K yellow gold hold it just above the band, high enough to let light in under the pavilion and pull flashes out of the crown.
To either side sits a small trefoil of three round diamonds, arranged in a tight triangle rather than a straight line, so the white stones cradle the sapphire and taper the design down into a thin gold shank. The warm metal against the pale blue is the whole idea here, and at this scale it stays neat on the hand.
