A pear-cut blue sapphire sits point up inside a full circle of small round diamonds, each held in its own raised collar so the halo reads as a ring of separate bright points rather than a continuous line. The outline it draws is a rounded teardrop, following the stone rather than forcing it into a circle.
The 10K yellow gold band splits into two slim rails as it approaches the setting and is left entirely unset, which keeps all 0.10 carats of diamond gathered around the center. Warm yellow pressed against dark blue gives the piece more contrast than a white mount would. At 1.32 carats the sapphire is the whole event. Size 7.
