A pear cut blue sapphire is ringed by a scalloped halo of round diamonds, the outer edge dipping in and out around each stone so the head takes on a flower outline rather than a smooth teardrop. Yellow gold prongs grip the sapphire at the point and at both shoulders, and small gold beads show between the halo stones.
The sapphire itself is a very dark blue with a bright facet running down the middle of the pear. Below the head the shank splits into two fine yellow gold wires that leave an open triangle on each side before joining the band, which lifts the halo clear of the finger at size seven and keeps a fairly large head looking light.
