A pear cut blue sapphire points up the finger at the center of this ring, closely circled by a halo of small round diamonds. Just outside the halo, where the head meets the band, a marquise shaped accent sits on either side, angled to follow the curve. Everything holding a stone is white metal; the shank below it is yellow gold.
That split is what gives the ring its look. Seen from above it reads entirely white and bright, and the gold only appears as the band comes around the finger. The pear shape orients the piece vertically, so at size 7 it draws the eye along the finger rather than across it, and the 1.32 carat sapphire covers more surface than a round of the same weight would.
