An oval blue sapphire sits in a full yellow gold bezel, the rubbed over edge holding the stone flush rather than raising it on claws. To each side, three marquise shaped leaves in white metal fan out from the bezel, every one of them bead set with small diamonds, so the sapphire reads as the dark heart of a small stylized bloom.
The two colors of metal do most of the work here, warm gold ringing the stone and running the shank, cool white carrying the 0.02 carats of diamonds. At size 7 the head sits close to the finger and stays within a knuckle's width.
