A full halo of round diamonds encircles the oval blue sapphire at the center of this ring, and it is a wide halo for the size of the stone: 0.30 carats ringed around a 1.52 carat sapphire adds real width to the head. The shank is left entirely plain, a smooth polished white gold band with no stones on the shoulders at all.
That contrast is the design. All of the detail is concentrated in the head and the band simply carries it. In 14K white gold the frame stays in the same cool key as the sapphire, and at size 7 the halo makes the ring read larger on the finger than the stone alone would.
