Two halos, not one. The cushion cut sapphire sits in four prongs inside a tight inner ring of small round diamonds; a polished band of 18K white gold separates that from a second, wider halo of larger stones. The head therefore reads as a rounded square far beyond the footprint of the sapphire itself.
Sixty-eight diamonds at 0.68 carats against a 1.28 carat sapphire puts the white and the blue at close to equal weight on paper, but the double halo and the two rows of pavé down each split shoulder push the ring toward brightness. The blue holds evenly right across the face of the stone, and the band finishes plain and polished.
