An oval blue sapphire of 1.94 carats is held in four yellow gold claws, and from either side of it three marquise shaped petals in white metal fan outward, each bead set with small diamonds. The petals angle up slightly rather than lying flat, which gives the head a sculpted, floral profile when seen from the side.
Yellow gold runs through the shank and the claws while the petals stay white, pushing the diamonds forward and keeping the warm metal from washing into the blue. The sapphire is dark and evenly saturated; against gold it goes deeper still. At size 7 the piece spans wider than it stands tall.
