The halo is set in white metal while everything else stays yellow, so the ring reads in two tones: a bright ring of round diamonds encircling the sapphire, four yellow gold claws reaching up over it, and a flat plain yellow band running straight out on either side.
The sapphire is a clean oval in a lighter cornflower blue, and the warm gold sitting outside the white halo lifts that color rather than darkening it. At 2.00 carats it fills the head without overpowering so slim a band, and on a size 7 finger the whole ring sits flat and close to the hand.
