A marquise blue sapphire is prong set at the crossing point of a bypass shank, so the two arms of the band sweep past one another instead of meeting square beneath the stone. Each arm carries a short run of pave diamonds that stops before the tips, which pulls the eye along the diagonal rather than straight across the finger.
The 14K white gold keeps the whole ring in one cool key, with no warm tone competing with the blue. At 2.08 carats the marquise is long enough to span a good part of the finger's width, and the offset of the crossover is what gives the piece its character. Size 7.
