Small diamonds gather into a triangular cluster on each shoulder and stop there, leaving the long sides of the oval sapphire completely open. The stone is a dark, near-navy blue that gives back color rather than sparkle, and it sits low in a gold collar with short prongs held tight against the girdle. Below the head the shank divides into grooved gold bands that carry the line back around the finger.
Warm gold against a blue this dark is the whole idea of the ring: the metal supplies the brightness that the stone deliberately does not. Ring size 7 US.
