An elongated cushion-cut sapphire is carried on four slim white gold claws, lifted high enough that light reaches in under the girdle. Each shoulder takes one round diamond set close against the head, with a short run of smaller stones behind it, laid flush into the top surface of the band.
Twelve hundredths of a carat of diamond against 2.54 carats of sapphire is a deliberate ratio: the setting draws a thin line of light in from either side and then stops. White gold contributes no warmth of its own, so the blue arrives unmodified. Size 7.
